Associate Architect, In-Venue Restaurant Platform

Reporting to the Director of Architecture, as the Associate Architect, In-Venue Restaurant Platform you will be charged with continuing to grow our award-winning point-of-sale software as the brain of a restaurant. With integrations to our companion applications, payment providers, point-of-sale hardware, and third party solutions the TouchBistro In-Venue Platform presents numerous technical and innovative challenges to solve. You will be responsible for ensuring that this ecosystem has a solid foundation built on best practices for both modern mobile application development as well as robust commercial platform engineering.

 

YOUR DAY-to-DAY

  • Collaborate with and mentor development teams to effectively deliver on product goals as they relate to our In-Venue Restaurant Platform, ensuring that the solutions are built based on well defined interface contracts, clean data models, and mobile development principals that are robust, secure, and forward-looking in their implementation
  • Contribute to a technology roadmap for our In-Venue Restaurant Platform that considers growth, reusable components, and innovation across our full product ecosystem including the core point-of-sale software, hardware integrations, companion applications, and third party integrations
  • Participate in the establishment of a standard API for use across our In-Venue Platform to facilitate a consistent and scalable communication protocol between hardware, companion applications, and third party integrations
  • Ensure security across our In-Venue Restaurant Platform is considered at every step of the design, development and delivery process
  • Document and maintain architectural standards, goals, and decisions established to ensure consistent communication across the organization
  • Work with third party partners to integrate their hardware and/or software solutions including payment devices, printers, cash drawers, reservation systems, inventory systems and others

 

ALL ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or a related field required
  • 5+ years application and/or hardware firmware development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and ideas to all levels of employees and management
  • Experience with developing in a client-server environment with at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Objective-C, or Swift
  • Experience hands-on with point-of-sale development, hardware firmware development, payment terminal integration, or hardware integration
  • Experience with API design, development, and testing
  • Experience with hands-on iOS development for with either iPhone or iPad a plus
  • Experience with database development and data replication practices a plus
